DR.MARGARET CHUNG
"A suit? How unladylike."

Dr. Margaret Chung was an avid supporter of women’s suffrage, and was known for her activism in the Women's Auxiliary of the Chinese American League of Justice, the Chinese Protective Association, and the Chinese Women’s Reform Club. She often dressed herself in suits, breaking the gender norms of that time. She was also assumed to be gender queer, as she went by Mike to her closest friends, she was often described as “mannish” and “abnormal”, and was constantly pressured to conform to the gender norms by the anti-suffragists.
