HELLO GIRLS
"Lady Liberty is on the line!"

"Hello Girls” were some of the first women to serve in the military. Hello Girls were lady switchboard operators who received and transferred calls from the front lines during World War One. Grace Banker lead Lady Switchboard operator unit one— a group of bilingual girls who were stationed in France. During their time in service, the communications site was under attack, but they refused to leave because they knew important messages had to be connected. These girls were never recognized as being a part of the Army until after their death.
