MAUD NATHAN

"Maud, you're being ridiculous!"

Maud Nathan was an infamous public speaker and activist in the northeast. As the vice president of the Women’s Municipal League of New York and the president of the New York Consumers’ League, she fought valiantly for better working conditions for women as well as their right to vote. Her battle, however, didn’t just extend to city strangers. Maud’s own sister, Annie Nathan Meyer, was an infamous Anti-Suffragist who gained notoriety through her newspaper writings and public debates with opposing suffragists. Both sisters were literally each other’s main enemy! Talk about sibling rivalry! Man, their family dinners must have been awkward!
